blog

27th March 2008

OK, I'm back. Won't be back as regular as the past 3 years, but I'll see what I can do with the occasional post. I'm fed up of getting asked "What's happened to the blog".

What's happened since December 9th? Well we've had Xmas and a New Year, oh and my young lady has decided to move in. All going very well, although my spare bedroom has now become the largest walk-in wardrobe in Pershore!! Work is still relatively quiet, although we are about to be privatised, which should be a fairly positive move as long as they don't have me driving round in w white van!

I'm still getting the odd user that comes up with some classic faults. Take this week, the heating at work has been broken and they sent out the temps to purchase a whole batch of heaters. I got a call logged saying her PC was dead, the monitor was working fine but nothing is coming from the base unit. On inspection I could see the fault straight away. "So what's wrong?" I asked, "Well ever since this morning the PC won't switch on", "Ok, talk me thru your morning", "Well I came in and sat down and it wouldn't work", "Ok, what did you do before you sat down", "Well I plugged in..... Oh no!", Yep, she'd unplugged her PC to plug in a fan heater. Doh!! "Do you have to put that on the call?", "I tell you what, I'll close it as a faulty cable" - I actually closed it as "User had plugged in a heater and unplugged her PC, but would prefer the call to be closed as faulty cable to avoid embarrassment" - PICNIC (Problem in Chair not in Computer).

J & B are growing up fast. B's getting very close to talking which brings me to another topic - Nursery Rhymes! Are we surprised now-a-days that kids would prefer to spend time out on street corners or hanging around local shops when they got sung the most random songs as a child:

Rock a bye baby on the tree top, when the bow breaks the cradle will drop - Kid falls from a tree, not very pleasant image.

Humpty Dumpty - Fell off a wall, another case of Health & Safety over load.

Wee Willy Winky & Georgie Porgie - well the best place for them is prison, or the sex offenders register.

Old Mother Hubbard & The Women who lives in a shoe - Poverty stricken family's.

Baa Baa black sheep - surely that's racist!

Ring-a-ring of roses - ain't that about the plague anyhow.

Jack and Jill went up the hill - and yet again we have someone falling over and nearly breaking their neck.

London Bridge is falling down - what is this world coming too?

Three Blind Mice - probably caused by the plague.

It's about time they started to create some nice songs to sing kids to sleep rather than putting hideous pictures in their heads. And parents wonder why their kids don't sleep at night!!!
